Acer R240HY Bidx Monitor | The Top Rated Monitor Review 2021

Spread the love

The 24-inch Acer R240HY bidx monitor is Acer’s affordable LCD monitor that’s really pleasing to look at. A 4ms response time and standard 60hz playback speed make the R240HY smooth for video editing, streaming, and watching movies. Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels provides outstanding picture quality in a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio.

This combined with Acer’s ‘zero frames’ design and minimal stand makes the R240HY a special consideration for those looking for a space-saving 24-inch monitor. I think the R240HY’s color production is the middle tier for LCD monitors.

This Acer offers a fairly good contrast ratio for an IPS monitor and vivid colors with a relatively deep black. For the price, this monitor offers crisp, crisp picture quality and is perfect for displaying all of your favorite media. The IPS panel’s wide 178-degree viewing angle also means it’ll look really good anywhere, so every seat in the house is great when watching a movie with friends. Source

Acer R240HY bidx Monitor Review 2021

The R240HY looks very stylish. The panel is housed in a bezel-less (very thin, approx. 0.25″) glossy block plastic case and is lifted by a ring-shaped stand that can tilt the panel up to 20 degrees. Unfortunately, the ring stand does not allow for height manipulation, easy pivoting, or rotational movement. Tilt angle ranges from -5 degrees up to 15 degrees.

The panel itself is a fairly standard 24-inch IPS panel with a Full HD display resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and a standard 16:9 aspect ratio. Acer decided to supplement this particular monitor with an anti-glare screen coating, and the device operates at a maximum measured brightness of 250 nits.

Performance

I really enjoyed testing this beautiful gaming monitor. It provides amazingly vivid photos. That’s what you’d expect from an IPS panel, but it’s really overkill given how cheap the device is. Blacks are deep and realistic, and whites are bright. It doesn’t have the gray or yellow tint you sometimes see on other budget gaming monitors.

The most important specs of a decent gaming monitor, such as response time, input lag, and refresh rate, are all impressive. IPS technology has recently been getting better and better, which is reflected in the R240HY with a low 4ms response time and 9.6ms input latency. Combine that number with a 75hz overclocked refresh rate and you’ll have a buttery-smooth display.

I’m not lying, this Acer is quite similar to a 144hz monitor that boasts a 2ms response time, but at a fraction of the price as well. The 75hz refresh rate definitely helps with potential screen tearing situations and is a noticeable boost from the default 60hz refresh rate found on most monitors in this price range.

On this monitor, games looked sharp and crisp, and frankly, I didn’t notice any motion blur. I’m sure the more discerning gamer will pick up a few examples here and there, but you’ll have to look for it instead of focusing on the game. The main negative performance issue I’ve seen with this Acer is light bleed. Light bleed is a well-known and very common problem with IPS panels, where “rays” appear around the edges of the screen (mainly corners).

This is essentially how IPS panels work. You get better viewing angles and bolder colors because the panel lets more light through the panel, but light bleed is a side effect of that technology. You’ll notice this when you see a lot of black or other dark colors on the screen, which can be annoying for some viewers. I personally don’t mind it much, but this particular model seems to have a bit lighter bleed than usual.
Final words about Acer R240HY bidx monitor

It may sound like the record is broken at this point, but I can’t really emphasize how much money you can make with the Acer R240HY monitor. It’s not the cheapest gaming monitor, but the slight price increase gives it an exponential boost in specs and performance from a gaming standpoint.

If you’re looking for an affordable, high-performance gaming monitor that comes with Acer’s reputable brand, it can’t offer much better performance than the R240HY. Make sure you are familiar with light bleed before pulling the trigger. Because it is a deal-breaker for certain users.
